"The force of Alec Stewart's denial that he had ever accepted money from an Indian bookmaker in exchange for information will come as a relief to his many admirers." But it adds that "his (Stewart's) statement cannot, though , disguise the embarrassment of Lord MacLaurin... who called for any individual facing such alleagtions to be suspended --- a sanction that he is not prepared to impose on his own player".
