CBI report has no legal sanctity, says Joginder Singh

Former CBI director Joginder Singh said today the CBI had done a good job on match-fixing but its report cannot be used to proceed against the suspected players as it had no legal sanctity.

He told reporters here that it was wrong to say that those players who were not indicted in the CBI report were not guilty. There were some, who despite their alleged involvement in the match-fixing, are roaming scot-free because nobody had dared to say anything about them, he alleged.

He suggested that apart from life ban, the BCCI should take some more punitive measures against the gulity so that in future no one dares to indulge in these sort of activities.

Stating that no leeway should be given to tainted players, Singh said the BCCI should have taken action much earlier as there were reports of match-fixing for quite some time.
