Shimoga

Shimoga is 273 kms south-west of Bangalore. It was once a stronghold of the Keladi Nayakas. Worth seeing here is the Fort, the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Government Museum.

10 kms to the south-west is Gajanur. The dam here is ideal for picnics. Elephants are trained at the Elephant Camp here.

70 kms south-west is Agumbe. The sunsets here are unforgettable.

105 kms away is the magnificent Jog Falls, the highest waterfall in India. The river Sharavati cascades down 292 m in four distinct falls - Raja, Rani, Rover and Rocket. Admire this grand natural spectacle at leisure. Accommodation available.
